Scope of Application:
This machine is primarily designed in accordance with ISO 1856 Method A (ASTM D3574—D, JIS K 6400-7). The sponge specimen is compressed to 50% of its original thickness using a fixture, then placed in a constant-temperature chamber at 70 °C. After 22 hours, the compression fixture is removed from the chamber, and the specimen is taken out of the fixture and allowed to recover for 30 minutes. The thickness is then measured, and the permanent deformation (compression set) is calculated.
