Leakage Current Tracking Tester

5 0 Reviews
Electronic and electrical products may be affected by moisture and contaminants, which can cause leakage currents between live parts of different polarities or between live parts and grounded metal components. Such leakage may generate electrical arcing, leading to dielectric breakdown, short circuits, electrical erosion of materials due to discharge, or even ignition and fire hazards. The Tracking Resistance Tester is used to simulate the above conditions and perform a destructive test on insulating materials. It is designed to measure and evaluate the relative resistance of insulating materials to tracking under specified voltage conditions, when subjected to an electric field and contaminated water.

Product Overview:

The Electrical Tracking Test Apparatus is a specialized testing instrument designed and manufactured in accordance with IEC 60695 and GB 4207 / IEC 60112 standards. It is used to determine the Comparative Tracking Index (CTI) and Proof Tracking Index (PTI) of solid insulating materials under humid conditions. The instrument features simple operation, high accuracy, reliability, and practicality. This test method evaluates the relative resistance of solid electrical insulating materials to tracking when their surface is exposed to contaminated water under the influence of an electric field. A specified voltage is applied between electrodes placed on the material surface, while an electrolyte is dropped between the electrodes at defined time intervals. Under these test conditions, electrical tracking may occur. The number of drops required to cause material failure increases as the applied voltage decreases. Below a certain voltage limit, tracking does not occur. If no tracking occurs at the maximum test voltage, varying degrees of surface erosion may still appear, and the erosion depth can be measured. Some materials may ignite during the test.
